Pre-race routine:

When me an my running companions got in at 11am on saturday only to find the heat RIDICULOUS (we're from NJ in January). The expo was fine but crowded. Secured our numbers and some t shirts and it was back to the hotel to get ready for dinner.
Dinner was fine and we were back early (7pm) and went to get our runner's breakfasts in a box, that our hotel was providing. Well apparently they were sold out! Great! We had to piece together our breakfasts and turned in by 8:30.
Event warmup:

We catch the first shutle out of the hotel around 330 am. Nice ride (at least our driver knew where to go, I spoke to another runner on my plane who said her driver got lost! Lost of Porto Potties but still had lines. I was able to find a 'women's' porto pot and found the MAN who decided he couldn't read and used it. He came out to meet up with a HUGE line of angry women.
The fire works at the begining of the run were awesome! great way to start

Comments:

By mile 1 we were drenched in our own sweat and it didn't stop until hopping into the shower back at the hotel. Bad chaffing made me stop at almost all medical tents for vaseline and Biofreeze. I actually found that the Biofrfeeze helped cool me down ALOT.
What would you do differently?:

Hydrate more than normal just to keep up with the amount of sweat I was losing.
Post race
Warm down:

Slow hobble to thhe buses and then a shuffle to the airport. Crampy in the lower legs.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not being prepared for the humidity. Kinda tough to do when you live in the northeast in the winter months and then run in the southeren states. Oh well. Overall it was a fun time and I would consider doing it again.

Event comments:

Running into the parks and seeing the cast of characters was awesome! I got my picture taken with the Pirates of the caribean at one of the mile markers which was fun. Just the energy of the people running was awesome and definately got me through some tough times.
