Run
Comments: Was fine until mile three-had to go pee and lost 6 minutes standing in a line for two porta potties. After that, I felt like I made up some time, but at around mile 5, I started to have a coughing fit---I've been fighting a cold for the past three days, so had to start popping cough drops and slow it down...At around mile 8, my achilles and hamstrings were just killing me--don't think I was as prepared as I needed to be for the hilly course. At this point, it was just a matter of finding it in me to finish and started to do quite a bit of walking. What would you do differently?: I was 8 minutes slower than last year...just pray that I don't get a cold and prepare better for hills. Post race
Warm down: ate 1/2 bagel and banana...finally made it back to the hotel for a long, long, long hot shower What limited your ability to perform faster: a cold and a lack of strength in the hills. Event comments: This really is a great race...tons of volunteers and spectators..I just wasn't ready for it...I think bringing my mp3 player next time would have helped out tremendously.
