Run
Comments: Was doing a little better than Boston Qual. time on the way out to give me some leeway. Did fine til mile 15 when I noticed I was going slower. I was also checking my pace less frequently and just trying to push my legs faster. They were having none of it. Mile 20 I realized hope was not lost yet if I could get going and had moments of getting back on pace, but it was not to be today. The last 10 miles I felt on the verge of tossing my cookies. I was happy with the first 15 miles though, and I finished my first marathon. Ted was awesome as sag bike -- he was around me for most of the race and kept handing me water and electrolytes. What would you do differently?: Maybe not chat so much during the race, but it wasn't my lungs that were slowing me down, so maybe that didn't matter. Push myself harder even tho I feel like hurling -- maybe it would have helped ;) Post race
Warm down: Stopping after the finish line was a trip -- my body kept moving even tho my feet stopped. Kinda like getting off a boat and you feel the rocking for the rest of the day. Walked through the tents and headed to the porto potties -- very slowly, walking was difficult. Wandered back to finish line then to the car because it was too hot to hang around. What limited your ability to perform faster: Feeling like throwing up, which was probably from the heat. Not enough long training runs. Event comments: Finished top 36% of all runners Finished top 25% of all women Finished top 33% of my AG Gotta keep reminding myself that it was just last fall that I ran 10 miles for the first time in 20 years. I should be happy with this result in spite of not qualifying for Boston. Last updated: 2007-12-15 12:00 AM

Got up at 3:00 and started coffee and finished getting stuff together. Got in the car 20 mins late but made up the time on the empty roads. Had coffee, Clif gingerbread and banana on the drive.
walking and stretching and chatting. Had to jump a couple barricades to get in line for the start right before the gun went off.
