Swim
Comments: Start was a little slow. I really am not suited for RUNNING starts. I think I like the deep water start better. Pretty soon I realised I'd made a mistake in my starting position as all the girls were getting swept down with the current and I was coming last. Despite coming last this was my fastest swim time ever. What would you do differently?: Judge the tidal flow a bit better, go with my gut instead of my head and stick to the first position you pick! Transition 1
Comments: As I was running into T1 my name was called by the commentator... "and here we have Madonna Spelta number 122 wh came 3rd in her category last time. And it now looks like all our female competators out of the water..." Rub it in why don't you!!! What would you do differently?: Don't take any notice of the commentator! Bike
Comments: So I'm powering along and overtake three of the women straight away. Spend the rest of my time looking out for the other H's but again I have NO idea how many are in my age group. I spy an H and blast past only to realise they're a freaking N... O_O ARGH!!! On the second lap I found a BTS girl with a H on her leg and targeted her into the headwind. I caught up and blasted past her midway through the second lap What would you do differently?: Don't come last in the swim... Go faster Transition 2
Comments: In a good position here. Got my shoes on quickly. I'd stupidly done UP my fuel belt when I'd set up transition. Ripped open a gel and ran while undo the belt and put it on... What would you do differently?: Take more time setting up transition Run
Comments: Not my slowest time ever. But the naprogesic wore off and I was cramping something chronic. I'm giving myself some lee-way here because it really did affect my performance. The gu was like a dream. By the first aid station I'd downed the whole thing . Soooo sweet... More people were overtaking me than me overtakin other people. But I was still doing okay. Passed my friend sarah going in the other direction and we high fived. (her team won the teams event category for the females! She freaking rocks as a runner!) Aroung the 2km mark the BTS girl overtook me... Guess what! She came third! She pipped the girl in 4th position to the post by 20seconds... What would you do differently?: Honestly??? I should have carried some Naprogesic with me. I wanted to race but my body was telling me not to. I', glad I did though Post race
Warm down: Met up with SILVER STREAK (James from the Redcliffe Triathlon Squad) who I'd found out was pipped to the post in his race. :) Had a good chat. Chatted with Sarah when she came back in. Got changed in the car, pulled out my picnic blanket and set up under a tree watching the long coursers come in. It was a LOT quicker today. Transition was open at 9:15am! What limited your ability to perform faster: It was THAT time of the month. Event comments: Great race today. I walked away with a series placing which was totally NOT a goal this year. Just a nice suprise! I really enjoyed this series. it'll be a great warm up for noosa in the long course next year. :) Last updated: 2007-12-16 12:00 AM

Woke up still sore... Naprogesic, bananas, Cereal... Got my gear ready and drove up in the RAIN to Bribie Island. Set up transition, went to put my gear in the car and got back to my spot to put my keys into my fuel belt... and wouldn't you know it! My GEAR was moved. Apparently i'd put my bike on BACKWARDS???? hmmmm....
I'd like to say here that I was dosed up on Naprogesic. I new I was either going to be a total bitch on the course or breakdown and cry at one point.
