Pre-race routine:

Had a protein shake, two slices of toast and a banana for breakfast. Some light stretching and then double checked that I had everything.
Event warmup:

Set up transition, suited up and jumped in the water to acclimate to the freezing water.

Comments:

The fog was so thick you couldn't see the second buoys even with flashing lights on them, race start was delayed.
What would you do differently?:

Haven't done much open water swimming and it was obvious I need work on my navigation, I swam a lot further than I needed to.

I was freezing and moving very slowly, according to my wife. I didn't even realize how slow I was.

Had trouble getting on my socks and bike gloves, practice practice practice

Roads were rough from the winter, lost my two spare tire tubes. Hills have always given me trouble and I expected it.
What would you do differently?:

Only drank about half a bottle of gatoraide during the ride, really affected my run.

My legs started to cramp during the run, thanks to all the aid stations I was able to keep moving fairly well

Poor/no nutrition strategy, no transition practice

Event comments:

I plan on making this a yearly event on my schedule. It's a ton of fun :)
