Age Group Rank = 425/590
Pre-race routine:

Got up early, had some cereal and juice. Tried to stay warm and dry until the start.
Event warmup:

No formal warmup, just walked around in the rain and wind to stay loose. Was miserable waiting on the start.
Run
  • 2h 18m 48s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 36s  min/mile
Comments:

Could not be happier with this run. Although my mile pace was nothing special, it was consistant (10:40 +/- 5s on each one). I felt comfortable the entire run, breathing was relaxed, no HR data though. I had enough to push it on the last 5k, dropping my average pace to about 10:25 per mile. This race was a big confidence builder!!!
What would you do differently?:

I really want to focus on speed this season, going to work on getting my pace down under 10m per mile or faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked for a while to stay loose, drank and ate some.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Been training exclusively on base rather then speed. I am confident that I have the endurance to do these distances, just need the speed.

Event comments:

Great race, other than the weather. It was cold, rainy, and windy. Waiting for the start and after the finish was painful, but the race itself was fine. Maybe I will try the full marathon next year (ugh)
