Swim
Comments: Oh my...could not have had a worse start to the swim. The wheels fell off my wagon early. Not sure if it was the delay, the fog (my vision isn't that great to begin with) or the fact that there were more people than my first Tri. Swallowed most of the lake, finally figured out where to go...calmed down and just swam. Picked up to a mid pack or better finish. What would you do differently?: Start far right (to marker) with room to stay clear of the pack. Transition 1
Comments: Ok T1; a little cold, so not so quick with the fine motor movements. Used the suit removal assistance which was great. What would you do differently?: Not sure yet...but need to get a little quicker. Bike
Comments: Surprisingly the ride was my best event and most fun! Usually it is the swim and run. Felt great, kept at a doable pace, held back a bit because wasn't sure how many hills were coming. Loved the downhills! Need to work on drinking and eating on the ride-if not eating at least DRINKING!!! I drank less than 200 cc on this ride...and paid for it on the run! What would you do differently?: Ride faster! Transition 2
Comments: Bad T2, not sure why so slow on the transition this time. Extra leg bands (knee & ITB) did't help. What would you do differently?: Go faster! Run
Comments: Boy did I hit a wall, late start, no food and I didn't drink on the ride...dummy. Need to practice that. Was tentative on the start of the run becasue of my ITBand issues. After a gatorade and some water felt better. Walked the hills and at each water stop. What would you do differently?: EAT or at least DRINK more on ride. Train more Bricks (if healthy ITB). Post race
Warm down: ATE! What limited your ability to perform faster: Late start left me a little hungry but I didn't want to eat becasue I didn't know when we were going to start. Didn't practice Gu or other nutrition prior to the swim. Injury to ITB limited my brick training and running distances. Event comments: All said and done, safety was the reason for late start...I am all for it. No complaints! Well organized, a ton a fun, great support volunteers, professional everything! Ate early...anticipating a 0730 start...ugh...that dissapeared with the delay.
Set up transition station...waited to go.
