Bike
Comments: Crashed on the dismount by slamming on the brakes too hard. I think it may have been my first time using the front bike after they readjusted it in the shop and it braked me quick! A little scuffed knee and elbow and wrist, but I got up quick...was more pain to my ego than to my body. What would you do differently?: I needed more practice riding and riding on this bike...this was my 4th ride on a real tri bike, and it really felt a lot faster than my old bike...good things to come in the future Transition 2
Run
Comments: I was hurting on this run and it seemed like it was never going to get to the turn around. Because of the grand prix type start they did, there was a lot of people around me on the run course moving a lot slower than I was. This was kind of a pain sometimes because I was trying to dodge people. The hills at the end of the run course really took a beating on me as well as the sun and the heat. I was pretty fried after the run Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: I was new to the climate, just made a move in location for me, so I had perhaps too many new things and not enough fitness to overcome it. Event comments: This course was really nice. My biggest gripe is with the individual starts, going 3 seconds after the person in front of you. This makes it so you have no idea how you stand in the race and they put the Male 20-24 as one of the last groups, so we were having to pass people of all speeds constantly. Also, they had scheduled bus times to take us to the start. I was doing a warmup on my bike at the transition and they said the last bus was leaving soon (way before when it was scheduled) so I had to cut my warmup short, then they were running late at the start, so I had a long time (I forget how long, but it was well over an hour) to sit in a poorly shaded grass field with nothing but my swim trunks.
