Overall Rank = 440/462
Age Group = 0-39 Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 27/28
Pre-race routine:

Woke up around 0530, ate two pieces of toast with PB.
Had a lot of nerves last night and had a hard time getting to sleep.
Event warmup:

Nothing.
Swim
  • 06m 52s
  • 328 yards
  • 02m 05s / 100 yards
Comments:

Pretty good swim. Total pool time was a little over 6:00, which is a vast improvement for me.

Passed 4 people on the swim. Probably not saying much but made me feel good at the time!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing I can think of.
Transition 1
  • 03m 34s
Comments:

The flat portions of the course were awesome. The hills killed me, I had to use the lowest gears as it was hard for me to drive up the hills.
What would you do differently?:

Put GPS unit on handlebars beforehand. Switch to wrist in T2
Bike
  • 53m 51s
  • 12 miles
  • 13.37 mile/hr
Comments:

Nice and pretty fast course. The hills are not too long or steep but my legs were still screaming.
What would you do differently?:

Can't think of anything for the race but will be doing more hills and bike fartleks in future training.
Transition 2
  • 02m 39s
Comments:

Would have been a bit shorter if I hadn't listened to my wife and friends say that I had ripped my tri suit (Dug out my after race shorts, but decided oh well). We had a big laugh afterwards as they were really seeing the white mesh of the suit pockets and not me mooning them. LOL
What would you do differently?:

But race belt on in T1.
Run
  • 41m 17s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 13m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

I walked way too much, becuase of the spaghetti legs. It took me 2 miles to get my land legs back. The stiffness was worse after I walked.
What would you do differently?:

Have a better strategy for the run on walk breaks or pace so the stiffness subsudes.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate two pancakse and walked around the Natatorium looking for the stuff I left inside. It was gone. :(

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Stiffnessa after the bike ride.

Event comments:

The ARD was very funny and cute in his St. Pattys outfit.
