Bike
What would you do differently?: Stop at every rest stop and replenish liquids and calories. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike set-up was poor. Seat was too low and angle of the seat was incorrect. Too much pressure on my arms/shoulders. Seat was too low, which was counter to good/efficient cadence. Caused muscle strain in thighs, which resulted in extreme cramping. Head wind was apparent for 45 miles where I averaged no greater than 11.7 mph. Missed a turn while I as resting my neck and shoulders. traveled six miles out of my way. Event comments: I clearly wasn't prepared for the distance. Should have rested at each rest stop. Should have put in several sixty mile routes before race day vs 20 mile routes. Although the weather was a bit cold, I was dressed appropriately. Kept warm throughout the race. Possibly too many layers which may have contributed to excess tension on my shoulders. Can't wait for next year. LOL Last updated: 2007-12-29 12:00 AM
