Swim
Comments: I was expecting lots of weeds and there wasn't. The water was calm and warm. Most people did not wear wetsuits but since I have never raced without it and I hadn't been swimming but once this month, I opted for it. What would you do differently?: Maybe I would have been a little stronger if I would continue swimming with the Masters group consistently this summer. It's in the evening so with activities and just family, it often gets missed. I felt pretty strong just a litte wided at the end. Transition 1
Comments: It was up hill to the transition area so I took an extra few seconds to catch my breath as I got to my bike. This was the first time for me to have the number assign where I placed my bike. Guess it didn't matter what time I arrived for set up. Something to remember for next year. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Bike
Comments: I felt really good for this ride. There was one girl who I would pass on the hills and then she would pass me...a hill would come and I would pass her...then she would pass me. I tried to keep her in my sights at all times. I came in just after her on the bike and passed her on the run. What would you do differently?: Learn to use more of my gears. I don't know enough about biking to really get out of my middle ring. Transition 2
Comments: This transition felt good. My legs were feeling decent getting off the bike. It help to do two short bricks this week. Run
Comments: Usually don't take any water on a 5K and I didn't this time. I was feeling pretty good about my run until I saw my time. I was a little disappointed that I was over 8 minute mile. Oh well, guess I should have pushed a bit more. I was able to high five my kids at the beginning of the run so that was fun. What would you do differently?: Quicken my pace. This was the area I was not overall pleased about. Still a decent pace but would like to see 7:45 for a 5K Post race
Warm down: Saw my family as I round the uphill climb for the last short stretch to the finish line. Hung out with them while I waited for my newphew to finish. I was able to see him begin his run. He looked at me and said, "You're done already?" He did start in wave 22, while I was in wave 11. Event comments: One thing I always feel bad about are the athletes who are doing longer distances. All of the sprint finishers are milling about and getting in the way of those that are doing longer distances, in this case, the HIM. People had to be yelled at to get out of the way. People just need to be a bit more considerate as they are watching or heading home to move out of the way. Last updated: 2007-12-29 12:00 AM

Got up at 3:55 and ate bagel and headed to pick up my nephew.
Just stood around and talked with my family. My nephew was doing his first tri ever.
