Run
Comments: Was a little concerned going into this race because I really haven't been running enough, but I still had a pretty ambitious (for me) goal of 2:05, 3 minutes faster than last year. Felt pretty good for the first 8 or 9 miles, but then I started losing it. About 9.5 average pace for the first 8 miles, and then about 11 minute average pace for the last 5. I had to push myself mentally and physically the last few miles, especially on a hill at about mile 10. Slower than last year and nowhere near my goal, but I am still happy with my performance since it was a hard effort. Nice Winter day for a run with bright sunshine. Wind was about 15 MPH, but I only really noticed it in the last mile or so which seemed to be right into the wind. What would you do differently?: Train more, and maybe start a little slower. Post race
Warm down: Water and walking. Found Matt to congratulate him on his 3rd place overall with a time of 1:23:56; he is wicked fast! Nice spread of food, but I didn't stay because I wanted to get back home to family. What limited your ability to perform faster: I don't train nearly enough, I'm slow, and I could stand to lose a few pounds. Event comments: A great local race for a good cause. Nothing special. Somehow the CD with my usual pre-race music wouldn't play. Had a Deep Purple CD and decided "Highway Star" and "Space Truckin'" were good pre-race songs. Found Matt (tri sport19) who I met at the Finger Lakes Tri last September.
About a mile of running and walking.
