Run
Comments: The run was a two part run. 1.5 mile (completed in 9:37) and a 2.5 mile (completed in 16:11). I was in the first wave and it was only marked by one race organizer who ran it earlier that day, so it was hard to follow and difficult footing. There were a couple of turns that I didn't know where to go because I was in front of my wave the whole time. I was really happy with my run but I am sure I could have run faster if I was in a different wave. I simply didn't have anyone to "race" and I may have gotten lazy a few times. Still overall, I was pleased with my running. What would you do differently?: Push a bit harder on the run. I didn't lay it all out. Transition 1
Comments: I had the fastest 1st transition. I'm sure not having to change into any extra gear helped with that! What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Again as the run, the bike was split in two parts: 3.3 mile (completed in 11:57) and a 6.6 mile (completed in 22:16). My bike was OK. Not super fast because of the snow and my main concern was to not crash. Considering the tough conditions, I did well riding my TT bike in the snow and ice. I was probably not in the top 10 on the bike, but my run was strong enough to carry me. It was definitely a runners course today and that is why I came out on top. What would you do differently?: I wish I had my cross bike ready to ride. Shame on me. Transition 2
Comments: 2nd fastest transition on T2 What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Post race
Warm down: Nothing... ate some cookies... chatted with the platoon of BTers! What limited your ability to perform faster: Well the same thing that limited everyone... Snow and equipment. Event comments: I love this race series. It is so much fun and it keeps me motivated in the winter. Anything can happen at this thing... weather is nearly always a factor and there are always surprise fast guys... I've had a busy race season so far in 2008 and its nice to get an overall win already this year! Last updated: 2008-01-02 12:00 AM

Woke up early and organized my gear... made a pancake and had some coffee... Woke up Viktors... Katie came by and picked me up and we drove together in her gas guzzling rental.
Arrived to the start and registered... it was CHAOS. I could tell that most people were just scratching their heads trying to decide one, if with all this fresh snow if it was worth even racing today, and two, if racing is an option, what should they ride, what pedals, shoes, clothing etc.
Easy for me... I brought the only bike that I have ready to ride right now, my TT bike!
So I took it for a quick spin... nuts! I was for sure thinking that I was screwed. Then I took the bike out of the parking lot and onto the road... slippery, but doable. I felt better. Still it was dangerous so I opted to run and ride in my running shoes with Yax Trax including helmet for all of the segments! I was smart.
I do have a cross bike that is not built up yet... man, I could have used it today!
