Pre-race routine:

Typical Saturday morning with the kids. Had some cereal, toast, and OJ.
Event warmup:

Jogged around for a while, tried to stretch but it was somewhat difficult to do so because of the conditions outside and there was no where we could stretch indoors.

Comments:

I was careful when I started out because I didn't want a repeat of my 10 K in Sept. when I ran the first mile in something like 5:50 but I wish I would have started out a little faster, something like 6:30-6:40.

Mile 1- 6:53
Mile 2- 7:00
Halfway point- 17:34
Mile 3- 6:51
Mile 4- 6:47
Mile 5- 6:56

I ran the last mile and half a little bit harder, but I wasn't going to catch the guy in front of me and the guy behind me wasn't going to pass me so I was lacking a little motivation at that point, even though I knew there will be adjusted times based on your age so it would have been a good idea to push myself a little harder. Oh well, maybe next time. Anyhow, this was a good first race of 2008, especially considering the conditions but I know I can do better still as it is a matter of me being "comfortable" while running with some discomfort which I always seem to back off when I begin to feel that way. I'd really like to get a HR monitor and use that to gauge my effort and how much harder I can push myself.
What would you do differently?:

Get better stretched out, start out a little faster, push a little harder throughout.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Worries about starting out too fast and cold.

Event comments:

I look forward to the future races of the road series.
