Swim
Comments: Pretty good improvement for me, swimming has been a bit of struggle and that is one reason why I have not reached for the olympic distance, I get more comfortable each time and training in the big lake has really helped. What would you do differently?: Try and push a little harder. I don't think I went all out, but still improved time from last year, swam the entire distance without any stops, and improved my time compared to similar distance in Lake in the Hills race Transition 1
Comments: Thought it would be faster, but oh well. Bike
Comments: Not much to say. A pretty good ride, good time and high ranking. Discovered at the start that my aero bottle was not properly secured and that made it a little hard to get liquid while riding. Transition 2
Comments: Not bad What would you do differently?: Try dismounting bike in bare feet and leave shoes in pedals. Run
Comments: Not too bad, not too great. Really felt the effects to two races in seven days. I was hurting a little and did not feel like I had much extra kick, so I maintained the fastest and steadiest pace I could tolerate. Post race
Warm down: Light stretching and a little food and water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Two races in seven days hurt the run performance. Otherwise, I felt pretty good about it. Event comments: It is a good race, though I have a couple of complaints. First, they need a larger transition area. It is way too crowded for the number of athletes. Second, I wish they would keep transition open longer before the race starts. It is difficult to get there early enough for adequate set up time, when you have to shuttle in from a remote parking lot. Did not stay for much of the post-race stuff so I can't comment. Also, because of the parking situation most people have to ride their bike back to the remote parking lot while carrying a heavy duffel bag. It is kind of dangerous and I don't think the race organizers spend too much time worrying about that. Last updated: 2008-01-02 12:00 AM

Woke at 4 AM, ate granola and yogurt combo with a banana, left at 4:35 to make 40 minute drive to race, arrived at remote parking lot in time to wait in long line for shuttle, got to transition area at 5:30 and had ~30-40 minutes to set up, race organizer is kind of anal about closing transition early and getting it clear even though there are 30 minutes until the first wave starts for the olympic distance, this is my one complaint about the race
Some light stretching once I left transition area, slipped on wet suit and took a short swim the water off well off to the side from the start line, overall felt pretty good
