Run
Comments: I had pacing problems from the start. The first mile was 7:15, but then carried about an 8:00 pace for the remaining 4 miles. The strange thing was that I took THREE walking breaks of 20-25 seconds during this otherwise short run. I had a side stitch that would not go away and I apparently didn't have the mental fortitude to push through it. Despite all the walking breaks, I still managed an overall pace just under 8:00. What would you do differently?: I don't know, maybe not be such a wimp. Post race
Warm down: Walked back inside, had 2 shots of peppermint schnapps, grabbed a beer, and went back outside to the finish line to watch some of the later runners cross the line. What limited your ability to perform faster: Pacing and mental toughness. I felt like a mental midget for needing to walk so much for a short race. Event comments: Despite my disappointment in the way I ran the race, this is still a GREAT event. I need to round up a few friends next year and hang around to enjoy the post race activities much later into the evening. Last updated: 2008-01-07 12:00 AM

Lazy morning with a big breakfast of Kashi, wheat toast, jelly, and shredded turkey with green chili sauce. It stuck with me for the better part of the next 24 hours. Light lunch of scraps from the kids plates.
Got there 45 minutes before race time, registered, changed, jogged a little, streched, and wandered around the ballroom.
