Pre-race routine:

Horrible night's sleep, 10 month old did not sleep well. Left the hotel at 3:45 to walk over to transition, arrived just before it opened. Set up and returned to hotel to relax for an hour or so before returning with family.
Event warmup:

All the walking, and a bit of stretching before getting in line for my wave.
Swim
  • 37m 44s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 31s / 100 meters
Comments:

Very crowded swim start, I started way at the back, which may not have been the best idea. Other than that the swim went pretty well given my lack of swimming ability. Only gulped lake water once or twice, I also stopped once to clear my goggles. I didn't seem to be steering well, which is weird considering how narrow the course is.
Transition 1
  • 03m 36s
Comments:

Considering the size of the transition area, I am happy with this time. Only problem was not noticing my two gels had fallen off my bike.
Bike
  • 1h 19m 8s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.84 mile/hr
Comments:

Pretty happy with this, the wind was blowing pretty hard heading north, but it did help coming back south. As others have said, tons of bikes, tons of trash from folks hitting bumps. Only had one or two close calls, but the real killer was not having my gels, the loss in nutrition is one of the contributors to my run time, I think.
Transition 2
  • 02m 10s
Comments:

Again, pretty happy with my transition. But, I could tell even heading to run out that I was pretty spent.
Run
  • 1h 08m 32s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 11m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

Ugh. I was able to run the first mile, but could tell it wasn't going to be a good day. I was aiming to complete the run in less than an hour, but just felt like I had nothing left. Maybe lack of nutrition, maybe lack of sleep, I don't know. Regardless, lots of good course support, and the cheers coming in to the finish were great!
Post race
Warm down:

Loved the iced towel, got a bagel and waited for my sister to finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of sleep, lack of nutrition.

Event comments:

It was pretty cool to do a race this large, and the organizers did a great job considering the number of entrants. But, I think I would prefer to stick to smaller events, the logistics are just too crazy.
