Pre-race routine:

Woke up 30 minutes later than planned. Woke kids up. Ate PBJ and yougurt. Drank water. Got dressed. Went to ATM then Steve and Julie's. Loaded Julie's bike on rack. Off to Heritage Park. Arrived about 5:40. Went to transition area. Bathroom break. Setup transition. Socialized.
Event warmup:

Warm-up run, .5 miles. Bathroom break. Stretch. Wetsuit on. 5 min. warm-up swim.
Swim
  • 13m 19s
  • 587 yards
  • 02m 16s / 100 yards
Comments:

The wetsuit made the swim seem easier due to increased bouyancy. Pace was about what my training pace has been leading up to race.
What would you do differently?:

Of course, I don't have the same form in OWS versus pool. Get in more OWS practice.
Transition 1
  • 03m 27s
Comments:

I was a little winded but the frustrating thing was getting into my socks. I guess they were too new and stiff.
What would you do differently?:

Bring stool and sit down to pull of wetsuit. Get socks on quicker.
Bike
  • 39m 52s
  • 11.5 miles
  • 17.31 mile/hr
Comments:

That first lap kicked my rear recovering from the swim. Really tried to make up time on the back side of course.
What would you do differently?:

I just need to dvelope more as a cyclist since this is moy stronger event. Would love to practice OWS / bike brick.
Transition 2
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

Not too bad since I don't practice transitions much.
What would you do differently?:

Start practicing with my Yanks. Practice unfastening straps while on bike.
Run
  • 27m 36s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

My legs were really heavy for that first .5 mile. Got to first mile at 8:30.
What would you do differently?:

I have increased my run training the last month and a half and expect improvement from that. I need to increase my pace and stamina. I would have cut 2:06 off my run time by maintaining the 1st mile pace.
Post race
Warm down:

Hydrated and ate snacks. Took pictures.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

This was a great evalaution race as I want to peak in July and August.
Lack of OWS options.

Event comments:

This is a great race to start the season.
