Swim
Comments: Wow I am a slow swimmer but there were people that had no business being out there. I ran into people within a 100 yards that were already winded. At the yellow turnaround buoy it was a party with people just sitting there taking a break. I was getting frustrated with all the people stopping along the course, I don't mind if I have to pass someone that is slow (I get passed all the time) its just hard when people stop then you turn to go around them and they start up again. What would you do differently?: get there early and take a nap inline. A Friend got there at 5:05 and was 3rd or 4th off. Transition 1
Comments: Tent was soaked by the time I got in there and I forgot to bring a towel. (live & learn) What would you do differently?: Nothing, my goal was 1:20 Bike
Comments: Thank God I drove down to do the course a couple times as it allowed me to know when I could rest and when I had to keep up my momentum in the "rollers" On the second lap I was thinking that I wanted to do IMFL next year (flat) lol What would you do differently?: Not much my goal was 6hrs. Transition 2
Comments: Same as before, needed a towel. Run
Comments: This is where my day turned to shit, came out alittle too hard as all the people got me so jacked up. 1st 3/4mile was at 7:20 (WAY TOO FAST). Then the pain began I hit the uphill of the bridge and both inner quads completly seized. I stopped and tried to squat (stretch) with no luck. Stood there for about 3 mins and finally walked over to the aid station and had a banana and some water. Was able to shuffle but as soon as I tried to stride it would cramp up. As I was coming off the bridge I saw my family and Angie I was doing great over 20 mins ahead of schedule for my goal of 11:59:59 (I could run about a 4:20 marathon which should have been doable) My response to her was baby this is going to be a LONG day so go to TGI's and have a beer or two. lol Basicly just tried to shuffle along and get some pace going, after a while I was able to jog "use that term looosely" from aid station to aidstation. on 1st lap saw about 30 people I knew so it was cool to get the support from people. It did kind of stink that they tease you with the finish shute, you head right to the finish line then turn you away at the last minute. Second lap was probably faster than 1st but I have no idea and don't care. This was my 1st marathon and 1st IM so I was just trying to enjoy the day. Next year will be different Time will be the only think I care about. Post race
Warm down: Since I was so slow in the run I felt great! I actually walked out about 2 miles to find a friend that was having a bad day. We hung around the finish line cheering on others that were finishing until about midnight. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not sure, I left about 30 minutes on the bike course so I would have a good run but that did not help. The shin splints right in the middle of my training schedule killed me, 5 weeks of no running is hard to come back from. Event comments: Can't wait until next year, This was so much fun. I don't realy like all the training for just 1 race but it was a blast. 10:30 next year!!!!!!!!! now I just have to find a way to get there and stay married! lol Last updated: 2008-01-13 12:00 AM

tried to eat 2 PB bagels! did not work very good. Got 1 down and gaged half of the second one. Great start already 300 cal down for the day.lol
For the 1st time in my life I was going to TRY and enjoy the day instead of focusing too intently. I was talking to my family and people around me (normally very quite in my own world) I took the attitude that this was supposed to be my reward for all the hard training. It was weird I actually had fun.
wait in line, only 20 people behind me in line. Long walk upto the start.
