Swim
Comments: Ok. It seems the week at the Boy Scout summer camp focusing on nothing but swimming helped me swim faster however I am still completely hosed at times. Started out hard, too hard. Was "windmilling" and not doing a very efficient stroke. I was moving pretty fast but it caused the breathing to be all out of sorts. Had to slow down and concentrate on my stroke. I think the masters swim course scheduled for the fall/winter is a must. I have the capability but I need to get it under control. What would you do differently?: Glide, Glide, Glide... Transition 1
Comments: Need more practice. Wife and kids need to time me while I do it over and over again. I am getting sick of saying I can gain time overall if I get the Transitions under control. What would you do differently?: Practice them a lot. Get a Trisuit so I wasn't trying to get dressed while damp. Bike
Comments: I stopped doing a lot of biking to train for the Half Marathon that is coming up. It showed. My time increased by 2 minutes. Not to mention I got a penalty. No use arguing about it but I think it was crap. (doesn't everyone though) Was hit with it either in the corner or coming out of a corner. Either way, the bike portion sucked. I hated it from the start. By the time I got my legs about me and a good grove I was 3/4 of the way complete. That bike will haunt me in my sleep. What would you do differently?: Not sacrifice biking for another skill. Buying the spinerval videos and punishing the body for it's feebleness. Bad body. Bad, Bad body. Transition 2
Comments: Traffic Jam at the dismount line. 5 of us came in at the same time and some I was getting ready to pass so it was kind of slow at first. Need to practice shoes and everything. Not quite as bad as T1 but still not happy with it. Took way too long. Going to try the Yankz again even though they didn't work before. Don't know. Something needs to give though. Run
Comments: Was felling defeated when 2 40-something men went by me until I noticed one wearing a Ironman Arizona shirt and they were discussing how much fun Arizona was. Might add that to the list of possible Ironman cherry breaking courses. What would you do differently?: Not much differently. Kick it in more and not be afraid to let loose coming down hill. Post race
Warm down: Walked around looking for family. Went and got bike and put it away. Ate the watermelon and oranges and drank 3 bottles of water. Drank my Heed on the road home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Fat and lazy. Need to beat the body up more and get nutrition dialed in better. Strength Training needs to be added again. Event comments: If you have never done the Culpeper race I suggest it. The whole town comes out to help out and promote it. On the bike course the houses you pass have residents out cheering you on and saying "Hi" the whole way. Same on the run which goes literally through the neighborhood next to the park. The Triathlete community needs to recognize courses and towns like Culpeper who put a lot into running a decent show every time. This was my second time to the late summer run and I ran the spring course this year. I am never disappointed by the local's enthusiasm. Love this course, race and event. Will be a regular every year, twice a year. Last updated: 2008-01-14 12:00 AM

Woke up. Oatmeal and peanut butter with a cup of coffee. Woke up the support staff. Some required a revisit more then once. For some reason teenagers have this chemical released in their body that causes them to have to sleep 13-15 hours. Weird.
None. Yes that was bad but I was running around because we got out of the house late AND to top it off I forgot my timing chip so I had to hunt down the chip people and get another one.
