Run
Comments: I went out too fast. Ever since my IT band issues I haven't been running very much. My knee was fine but I just knew I couldn't sustain this pace. Overall, I did like the fact I could still run at a nice pace even if it's only three miles. What would you do differently?: Not go out so fast. Transition 1
Comments: Duathlons are great. I enjoyed not being wet and not having to squeeze out of a wetsuit. Bike
Comments: Nice time for me. This course is exactly where I train so being familiar with the course and hills was really nice. I was passing lots of people so that always excites me. I had the 4th best time in my age group(out of 11). I know I'm not the fastest runner but I figure I made up a little bit on the bike. What would you do differently?: Not much, I was happy with my performance. Transition 2
Run
Comments: This was definitely harder than the first 5K. I walked some and my knee was hurting. So I continued with a run/walk and was ready to finish. It also helped when I heard my husband and two boys cheering for me at the finish. I didn't expect them to come out so I kicked it a little harder at the end just for them! What would you do differently?: I need to pace myself a little better and not go so hard out in the beginning. If my IT band issues would go away that would be helpful too! Post race
Warm down: Got some water and found my family. Event comments: I went into this race to have fun and possibly finish in under 2:15. I accomplished both goals. I actually finished 5 minutes faster. Being familiar with the course was nice as well. The race itself was great. I would do it again. Last updated: 2008-01-14 12:00 AM

I didn't sleep very well. I never do before a race. I was looking at the clock every 30 minutes starting at 3am. At about 6am, I was awake but just laid there trying to settle my thoughts.
I had some breakfast and packed my things. It's crazy how less you have to pack for a duathlon. I felt like I was forgetting something.
