Run
Comments: 18/69 females I have been training by pace (E pace) but decided to wear my HR monitor cos I knew by the numbers how I could push myself and when I was about to die. This was a hard course and I had some trouble controlling my HR on a couple of the hills and in fact I decided to walk one small section of the last big steep uphill. This was a good decision cos by the time I got to the top I was good to go at a reasonable pace. Interestingly at some points where it was flatter my legs rather than CV system seemed to be the limiting factor. I started towards the front just cos that was where the person I was chatting to was so apart from in the first half mile when people were sorting themselves out, I don't think I passed anyone, just a trickle of people passing me over the duration. What would you do differently?: Not enter it! Ha, I know it's good for me but having trained at just E pace (9:37/m) so far this season and pretty much on flat terrain then the obvious comment here would be to train some hills! Post race
Warm down: Stood around at finish line cheering some people in and then jogged to the warm lodge for cookies and hot chocolate. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training for speed and hills but this is early in season and so this is OK for now. Event comments: Very well organised race It was really good to see some BT friends and some of my coaching group friends. Last updated: 2008-01-17 12:00 AM

Had breakfast a couple of hours before the race then headed to the race site with about an hour to go. Foolishly I decided to drive the course before parking. Holy cow I knew this was going to kick my ass
Kept warm in the car til 20 mins to go then had a gel and jogged for 5mins before jogging up to the start. The sun came out at the start and it was very pleasant hanging around waiting for the few minutes
