Swim
Comments: The swim was a mass, deep start. For some reason this was comforting to me. I've always beed a little scared of what I can't see in the water. I figured with all of these folks, the boogy man would surely got for one of them before me. Started right smack dab in the middle of the pack. It was fun. The water was so murky that you couldn't even see the foot that just kicked you in the face...or was that a foot. Could have been a...nevermind. There are no monsters in the river. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. I had a blast. Transition 1
Comments: T1 went well. I figured out my way of doing things in my first race, tweaked it to shave off a few seconds and we on about my business. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Bike
Comments: I was so thursty the whole time, I drank an entire bottle of water. It was really nice not to be passed nearly as many times as in my first race. I feld good the whole time and rode a little harder than normal. I was having a blast. What would you do differently?: Not much. Probably needed more hydration before the race. Transition 2
Comments: T2 went as well as expected. Bike shoes off, socks and running shoes on. I even remembered to untie my shoes before the race this time. Visor on and I'm off. What would you do differently?: All went pretty well I think. Run
Comments: Run went about the way I thought it would. I was passed by a ton of folks that I beat on the bike and in the swim. It's frustrating to lose so many spots on the run. I ran more than I though I would hoping that the folks I passed just before the turn around wouldn't catch up. Best part...my son ran across the finish line with me:) What would you do differently?: Not worry myself to death over the folks passing me. Post race
Warm down: Standing around drinking gatorade and chatting. What limited your ability to perform faster: Weight and stamina. Event comments: I still can't beleive I got a metal. I wish there were more people in the Athena category. I think a lot of girls don't want folks to know they are over 150, and they sign up for AG. I like the Athena category b/c I don't have to mentally sabatoge the toothpicks as they swim, bike or run by. There was one lady that had been doing tris for over 25 years. She's my hero. Up at 5 and tried to choke down a pop-tart. I just can's eat that early. Drank a little water. Dressed son, pack truck, and we're off...
On a happy note...my husband and son and mom and dad were there cheering me on. It was my mom's b-day. Also, it was me and my husbands 6th anniversary:)
Rode about a mile on the bike to check out the new wheels. My husband put his American Classics on my bike.
