Run
Comments: I ran a lot faster than I had anticipated. I was just kind of chugging along until I hit the first mile marker at 7:30. After that I started trying. What would you do differently?: I should have had a better idea of my pace when I am not on a treadmill. More road running experience around the race will help me to manage myself better. I should also have upped the intensity a little sooner towards the end. I was monitoring my pace to finish in 24m but forgot about the .09999 over 3 miles so I finished at 24m11s but I still had a little gas left that I didn't use. Post race
Warm down: Walked quickly to the water table and around to cheer for people as they finished. I have been done for 4 hours and I still haven't stretched. :( What limited your ability to perform faster: Low expectations. My goal was 27m and I finished the first mile in 7m30s without much problem. Event comments: This race is always a good time. I realized today that next year (HIM year) I should technically be able to run the 5k fast enough to also run the 10k that starts 30m after. Maybe in the IM year. Last updated: 2008-01-19 12:00 AM

Cliff bar about 20-30 minutes before the race.
A little stretching. Nothing exciting.
