Run
Comments: Flippin' awesome run! The first mile was a little slow - my first mile always is, plus there were a gazoodle of people. It never thinned out, but by mile 2, I had found enough space to run my own race. I freaked a little when I hit mile 2 with a sub-9 split...I don't think I've run sub-9's since I was in high school (and yes, if you look up above, I hit a bunch of sub-9s...I guess I'm getting better at this). Oh, and I bested my PR-standalone 5K on both the out and back of the 10K. I'm thrilled!!! What would you do differently?: Nothing - maybe be a little more aggressive the first mile? I also skipped all the water stations. In training, I have done about half my 6 milers without water/half with, and I didn't want to mess up my stomach, so I just went without for the race. Post race
Warm down: Wandered through the post-race festival and ate a bunch of free samples. :) Called Sugar Daddy (he was supposed to come spectate, but the rain kept him and the Monkeys at home) to give him the low-down. Found a dry spot to crash until I met up with Jen (artemis) and Judi (zipp1) - then we went out for brunch. Yum! Good company & good food. What limited your ability to perform faster: I can't think of anything - I'm happy as a clam. Event comments: I love this race. This is the 2nd time I've done it and it has been awesome both times. It's a little crowded (25000-30000 registrants), but other than the first mile, the crowd actually helps me run better. Last updated: 2008-01-20 12:00 AM

Woke up around 6, ate my pre-race Mojo bar and diet Pepsi, and went downtown. I scoped out the festival tents and watched the Kid's Mile - darn some of those kids are FAST! I'm hoping to get Elder Monkey running sometime this summer.
Walked a few blocks from the festival to my start corral - yeah, real strenuous. :)
