Swim
Comments: This was a good swim once I got into it. I could really tell I didn't have a chance to warm-up. In my long sets at the pool I usually don't find my groove until about 1,000 meters. Came a little sooner today but would have liked a warm-up. Swam through 2 and sometimes 3 groups ahead of me. 1:37/100 makes me really happy. Darn this is a fast crowd, I was 125 person on the swim. What would you do differently?: Warm-up. But I am very happy anyway. Transition 1
Comments: This is my only major complaint of the day. I really am crappy at T1 and T2. I spent waaaaaay too long in both transitions. What would you do differently?: Hurry up:) Bike
Comments: I could have gone harder, but I think this was a great pace. Any harder and I really would have blown up on the run. Roads were mostly good with a few rough patches. Did start to get hungry towards the end but didn't want to eat my gu at that point. What would you do differently?: Try to eat earlier in the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Tick tock tick tock...come on move it all ready. What would you do differently?: meh. Run
Comments: This was a tough run. It was getting pretty hot by run time and there isn't much shade once you get out of the park. As you get to about mile 2 you start this really long climb. Life started getting tough at that point. I was able to get through the hills and after making the turn around in the cemetary had a lot of down hill action. Was pretty overheated and thirsty at this point so barely managed a negative split on the run. Was very happy to see the finish line. What would you do differently?: I think I wussed out a little in the last 1.5 miles. I should have kept pushing but I ended up taking 2 walk breaks in that time. Need to work on the mental toughness. Still, my times are a vast improvement over last year. Post race
Warm down: Hit the finish line and started draining water bottles. I was HOT! Ran into Becky and her brother and waited for Kelly to finish. Kelly ended up knocking a HUGE chunk of time off last year. Bonus!! Bridgit (freckleface) came back from Denver for a short trip and managed to wiggle into the race. Of course she podiumed and it was great hanging out for the awards with her and her boy toy Scott. KelLy (not wife) and her husband also came over and hung out for awhile. Really a nice day to be out. Event comments: I really did like this race a lot. I am absolutely pumped about my time. As with all my races I am training through them and was pretty worried how this would go on friday. My legs were completely dead 36 hours before the race and I figured it might be a struggle. One days rest really helped out and I couldn't be happier. I now have a 7 week lay-off before HOLT to strictly concentrate on IMMOO training. Last updated: 2008-01-21 12:00 AM

Kelly and I got our packets the day before so that made it a little easier. We were up by 5:30 and on the road by 6:00. Had a PB sandwitch on the way and enjoyed the ride.
Rode my bike for a few miles to make sure everything was cool with it. It was. Wanted to get in and pre-swim but didn't have time. This made me pretty nervous because I take awhile to warm-up. Hung out with my tri buddy Kelly and was happy to see she didn't have the nerves at all. Talked to Slammer, Becky, Birkie, and some other triathlete friends.
