Swim
Comments: Swim went pretty well. I caught some feet a large part of the race. My left shoulder was feeling fatigued but I it may have been because the wetsuit wasn't pulled up properly. After the turn I finally felt a groove and felt faster. Oh yeah, somewhere along the way I could feel my wetsuit chafing my neck. What would you do differently?: Take more time putting on my wetsuit and bringing bodyglide with me on the shuttle bus. Transition 1
Comments: Wetsuit was tough to get off. I think the body glide wore off some time getting from transition to swim start. Bike
Comments: More hills than I was expecting. I thought it would be closer to the Ol' Philly Tri course which was all flat. Mentally it probably took a toll on me. I lost my water bottle after about 30 min. which of course was past the water station. So, I got a gatorade at the water station. It was too small to fit in my bottle cage so I had to put it in my tri suit pocket..which it worked itself out of and I lost that one too. I guess I wasn't supposed to have hydration and nutrition during this bike! I can't believe all the "Team in Training" people I passed. I kept thinking...Didn't I pass them already? I got passed way to often on the hills even though I did a lot of passing on the flats. What would you do differently?: Work on riding hills. Get better water bottle cages. Grow some balls on the downhills! Transition 2
Comments: I couldn't find my bike spot!! I guess because we came in the oposite way my berrings got screwed up. The numbering system was goofy around my numbers. They made sense up to right before my grouping then they switched sides..or maybe I'm just a wack job. What would you do differently?: Take some time in the morning to visualize what side I come back to T2 and where my spot will be. Run
Comments: I had a side stitch as soon as I started running. Might have even started on the bike..not sure. I was determined to not walk so I just kept running even though I was going slow. It seemed like a long 6.2 miles because I kept missing the mile markers and my gut hurt. At the 4 mile aid station I walked just enough to get a gel and some water and then started running again. Again, I missed the mile marker (mile 5) so I think I slowed down some until I saw mile 6 and then gave it everything I could. What would you do differently?: Even though I wasn't happy with my run I'm happy I kept running and didn't let the stomach issue make me walk. Who knows what would have happened if I never lost my water bottle.... Post race
Warm down: Got a massage and some water. Stretched, ate, hung out with High Roads people. I GOT FLAT WHILE TAKING MY BIKE OUT OF TRANSITION AFTER THE RACE...BOOM!! Everyone looked at me and laughed :( What limited your ability to perform faster: Loosing my water bottle was probably #1. I could have done more hills or at least anticipated the hills. Event comments: More than 1 water station on the bike would have been nice but I guess at that distance you don't expect to need it... Last updated: 2008-01-24 12:00 AM

I was running a little late. The whole morning I sort of felt rushed.
Nothing really. Went to the bathroom. Talked with other High Roads people.
