Run
Comments: The first few miles hurt. Can tell that I didn't rest at all prior to this race. Did the normal training week prior. Rode hard on Thursday and was just kinda doing this race to see what I could do in a mild state of fatigue. My HR avg was 168 which is a few beats below what I can normally sustain for about an hour. After the initial seeding into the trail I wasn't passed by anyone. Managed to speed up on the second half and pick off a couple of people. Going into the finish I could tell the guy behind me was trying a last minute surge. Held him off to the line, but once again it hurt. What would you do differently?: Not a thing for a training run. If it were more important I'd put less miles in during the week and no long hard efforts on the bike. So overall I'm happy. Post race
Warm down: Ran back out to come in with Meg. Total of a 2 mile cooldown. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. Ran as I wanted to with little expectations Event comments: Pikes Peak Roadrunners always puts on a good race. Great group of people. Search and Rescue was out as usual with their normal group of volunteers. Lucky to have this group around. Last updated: 2008-01-26 12:00 AM

Got up early as usual. Did the same old morning race routine. Some coffee, some cereal, and that's pretty much it.
1 mile warmup. Ran at about 7 minute pace.
