Pre-race routine:

Up at 5:30 with BITM. The usual oatmeal, coffee, and out we went. The beauty of Reston Tri that it is 1 mile from my house. Can't beat that!
Event warmup:

One lap at the HS track. There were too may people I knew, so I ended up talking a lot. Saw the whole bunch of BTers and RATS, this race sure feels like home.
Run
  • 19m 18s
  • 2.5 miles
  • 07m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

It was hard not to go fast because you start with you wave, and it is all race from there, but I really tried not to look at female age markings, it would totally mess me up for the rest of the race if I started chasing everyone down. Honestly, I had no idea hoe to pace myself on a short run before the bike leg.
What would you do differently?:

No idea
Transition 1
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

I have no idea what that time was. It was added to the run time because of the timing mats malfunction.
Bike
  • 1h 20m 42s
  • 23.85 miles
  • 17.73 mile/hr
Comments:

Happy with overall pace but I need more technical training; downhills, climbing, turning... all that made me slower. I think I had too much mashing going. Well, it was my first Oly, for the next one I have to train more on the bike. My last month leading to the Oly was very inconsistent. In addition I still can't drink on the bike (well, that's without hurting myself crashing), and my lower back usually start acting up after mile 16. So there you have it... I have so much work to do for my next season. I know I can be good.
What would you do differently?:

Get more biking skills.
Transition 2
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

Took some sweet time here to rehydrate, I was almost dizzy after the bike leg.
What would you do differently?:

One day I will learn how to hydrate on my road bike... or learn to ride my tri bike and get aero hydration system
Run

Comments:

This is where i'm happy. I was in pain and super dehydrated after the bike but i did not let it bother me. I walked about 4 steep short hills i knew would mess up my HR. This helped tremendously. I was happy to see my neighbors on the course, it was just like running in my neighborhood ;) It was also my first time keeping it together on the run. Legs felt very stiff at first but they came back after mile one. I was so happy to get back to the HS tracks!!!!! Shelly and Slake were at the finish along with my husband. I hear my name from the announcer and I was DONE ;)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Ate lots of food, tried to stretch my back.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Darn bike ;)
