Swim
Comments: Pretty good swim considering it was clockwise for us- add numbers. I'm so not used to swimming this way that i hit someone head on on my 3rd lap. Ouch! I passed a guy in front of me and got some clear water. I also had to do an open turn because of passing. Got passed by some other guy after 4th lap and drafted off him the rest of the way. The wetsuit did not greatly improved my speed, but I definitely felt less tired at the end of my swim. I liked it! What would you do differently?: Swim on my side of the lane, duh! Transition 1
Comments: My slow transitions always cost me. If I improve my transition times I will place higher. I have no clue what I do in transition for such long time! Bike
Comments: Overall happy with my bike leg. Most of the time , except on the darn Baron Cameron hill I stayed over 20 MPH, on the BC hill I tried to stay above 10 and I did. I still sucked at turns; on my first loop I did not shift gears in timely manner going into the turn and my foot flew off the pedal. Good times! It was my first race in a large ring, with only switching into smaller gear on the BC hill. I had no women passing me this time, I passed many, and got passed by some guys including Doc, Slakey, Kevin K. Passed Wurkit going downhill, said "good job, Chrissy" What would you do differently?: Just need more time riding hills, practicing turns and gear changes going into the turn. Transition 2
Comments: What is up with 2 minutes transitions? What would you do differently?: Be faster Run
Comments: Oh, here is where I do not like myself. I had no legs whatsoever going into this run. In fact, I never found my legs. One would think I was running a marathon or something... I was walking through the water stations and walked 2 hills allowing myself to make 30 steps and then run again. I never felt so bad running 5 k in my entire so called "tri career." to be perfectly honest I suck when it hurts, I'm not very good pain taker. I know it is all mental, I have to work on that. Actually I was surprised that my run time wast at sub-nine m/pm pace. I was mentally preparing myself for something much slower. What would you do differently?: I wish I could men up on that run. Post race
Warm down: Suffered in pain for couple of minutes, looked at the times and hung with my friends. What limited your ability to perform faster: Slow transitions and run melt down. Event comments: Well, to me this race was all about the improvement. It was my very firs race last year when i had 40 miles of biking all together under my belt and 10 min mile was a "fast" running pace for me. I improved a lot ;) 2007 Reston Sprint time - 01:34:50 Gender 61/101 2008 Reston Sprint time - 01:17:00 Gender 23/197 Last updated: 2008-01-29 12:00 AM

Up at 5 AM, ate some oatmeal and coffe, and was on my way to the race site 2 miles down the road.
tested out the wetsuit for about 200 meters, practiced underline flip turns.
