Pre-race routine:

Woke up... and cleaned the house. Nothing worse than coming home to a messy home when your dead tired from a long run/race!

Had a bluescary muffin and a cup of coffee from Einstien Bagels on the way to the race... stopped at the convenience store and bought a Red Bull and a 12 pack of Bud Light (and some water for Katie).Got to the race without enough time to wait on the super long portapotty lines... (just two!)
Event warmup:

No warm up. Tried to stretch but realized that at my age, stretching is dangerous so I just went to the starting line and waited.
Run
  • 2h 17m 47s
  • 20.28 miles
  • 06m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

I ran really well considering that I haven't run more then 14 mile in 3 months. I was hitting my splits until mile 17 where I blew up. I had to hang on and just finish respectably.

I will build on this race over March and April and be ready for my Marathon in May. I have the speed, I just need more endurance and more nutrition during the run.
What would you do differently?:

Carry Gatorade. I didn't drink or eat. This is probably why I had nothing after mile 17
Post race
Warm down:

I shivered, changed clothes, drank beer.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of long runs. Nutrition. Wind and concrete.

Event comments:

Fun race... I'm ready to start training now!
