Overall Rank = 146/462
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 7/28
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:45, ate and took a shower and packed up the bikes. Fitz, Bigg Sexxy and I headed out at 5:45.
Event warmup:

Did a 100m warmup in the pool after getting my transition area set up. It was chilly and windy outside so I didn't do any riding or running beforehand.
Swim
  • 06m 6s
  • 328 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

I purposely held back during the swim so I would have plenty in the tank for the bike ride. I probably should have gone at it a little harder the last 100m because I was off my training time by almost 20 seconds. Breathing bilaterally was good and I didn't have to pass a bunch of people this year, which helped.
What would you do differently?:

Attack the last 100m faster!!
Transition 1
  • 02m 5s
Comments:

I really thought I was around 1:30 for this T1 but obviously not. This is an area where I need to get better.
What would you do differently?:

Keep working on reducing these transitions
Bike
  • 40m 34s
  • 12 miles
  • 17.75 mile/hr
Comments:

The wind made it a tough ride for the most part. My goal was to do this portion of the race in under 40 minutes so I just missed that.
What would you do differently?:

Keep working on my hills and get stronger in the wind.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Better T2 than T1
What would you do differently?:

Keep working on my transitions to get them as close to 1 minute as I can.
Run
  • 25m 15s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

What else can I say other than I shaved 35 seconds off of my previous best time for a 5k! The hard work at the run is paying off.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing...keep working to get around the 8:00/mile range.
Post race
Warm down:

Talking to the group...waiting for the others to finish. Had a couple of pancakes at the finish line for food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slow T times, wind on the bike.

Event comments:

Great race! There was a big wait in the pool area for all of us to get in the water. This might need to be addressed by them in the coming years but overall...I HIGHLY suggest this race to anyone.
