Run
Comments: Luckily the Achilis was not hurting after a mysterious debut a week before (laid off of it and didn't run a week before the marathon). Hamstring tendonitis was fine due to the heat. Ouch...need new shoes...no cushioning left! First time I ever got a blister (on little toe) and my feet looked like they went to battle. Course was a bit boring and lacked spectators, crazy runners in costume and camaride that I see at large events like Chicago and NYC. Most of the participants were half-marathoners and lots of walkers. First few miles and than mile 11 (?) had bottle necks and lots of walkers. Was blessed on mile 19 by an Episcopalean priest! What would you do differently?: Would have used thier water and Gatorade for the first half and than switched to mine on my fuel belt. I finished mine off before taking theirs, like in Philly which seemed to help my times. Not so here. Not sure if I went out to fast but I did not have negative splits on this race by any means. I never noticed myself slowing down. I think it was more mental. Just was bored with the course, had no spectators to look at or for, and was ditched by my friend who was supposed to run with me. He backed out at the last minute. Post race
Warm down: Ate a bagel, had some water and gatorade. Walked around a bit before heading to the Metro Mover. Had pasta, tilapia and broccolli three hours later. What limited your ability to perform faster: Mentally I was not there. Event comments: I am biased since I am used to the big events like NYC and Chicago. Last updated: 2008-02-04 12:00 AM

Woke up at 3:30 AM. Was not hungry but ate my usual - 1 cup oatmeal with water. Ate a Pria bar about 15 mins before the race which started at 6:15 AM. Drove to Metro Mover station and took it downtown to the race. Went to sleep at 9:30 PM after a huge plate of pasta with veggies and chicken.
Going back and forth to porta-a-potties!
