Swim
Comments: The water was pretty calm. Not flat but no major waves, just a little chop. Was in the first wave and as the siren sounded ran into the water. Set myself up in the 2nd row right in the middle. Had a lot of people around me as you can image. The first 150m was pretty rough, people all around running over everyone else. After the first buoy turn it spread out a bit and I was able to catch some feet and actually hold onto them. Sighted as much as I felt I needed to and stayed on a pretty straight line. Had a few people run into me but it was never really to bad. What would you do differently?: Not much. I feel like I had a really good swim. Maybe try going out harder to start to get away from all the idiots who won't be able to hang in the front anyways. Otherwise I think I had a really good performance. Rounded the buoys really tight. Transition 1
Comments: This was a fast time. Sub 1min for any T1 is pretty good. Transition area is short so this should be expected. What would you do differently?: Next time put bike shoes on here so I don't fumble so much at the beginning of the bike. Bike
Comments: Went out pretty hard. Tried to keep reminding myself that this was a training ride for me and I wanted to hammer this. I wasn't really concerned about my run. Had a slight tailwind on the way out and a headwind on the way in. I changed between about 3 gears throughout depending on how my legs felt. I had a pretty good average pace throughout the entire ride, so was a little suprised at how slow this was. However this is the fastest bike split I've had at CR. In the last 1/4 mile I took my feet out of the shoes and slowed completely down to a stop before I got off my bike. Still a little uneasy on the flying dismount with my foot. And considering I was practicing this about the time I got the stress Fx, makes me even more uneasy. What would you do differently?: IDK, push harder. Have shoes on in T1 so I don't fumble so much. I think i woudl have been sub 43' if i did this. Transition 2
Comments: Put socks and shoes on. Don't have yankz because I'm not really concerned about having a fast run yet. So kneeled down to put socks and shoes on. Otherwise felt pretty good and quick. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: I had no plans on racing the run. Just wanted to keep a comfortable pace, whatever that may be. Got to the 1/2 mile marker at about 4min and knew I should slow down a bit. Kept the 8:30 pace for all 3 miles. Was able to talk and cheer people on. Saw Sue, Tonya and Wendi on the bike as I was heading out. Then saw all three again on my way back in. Made a good sprint to the finish line. Past a person in my age group in the last 1/2 mile. :) What would you do differently?: Training will get me back to where I was last year, but not bad considering. Post race
Warm down: Walked around to cool down and did some stretching. Waited for Sue, Tonya and Wendi to come in. Talked to some other people I knew. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of run training due to broken foot. Event comments: I love this race. I get to sleep in my own bed and still race on a nice course. Get to see the improvement over the same course. Last updated: 2008-02-05 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30 and took a quick shower and shaved. Ate a chocolate peanut butter protein powerbar. Finished packing up the car and hit the road by about 5:20. Had a gatorade with me for the ride. Got to the race and checked in, got body marked and went to say hi to Wendi and Sue. Proceded back to my car to put my race wheels on and get everything else set up in transition.
Nothing. Stepped in the water to see how it felt. I was sweating from the bike set-up.
