Terrible start as is my custom. Lots of gasping and choking. Too me a few minutes to get my act together then I took off.
What would you do differently?:

Figure out how to get started more calmly. Continue to work on sighting.

I walked it and I'm okay with that. I was one of the last people to head out on the bike, so it just didn't seem hectic and worth rushing. Surprised it only took 3 minutes actually.

Headwind in parts and it was very lonely. I only got passed by the elite crowd (coming around for second loop of half-iron) and caught up/passed other Oly riders. Might have worked harder with some inspiration, but I still beat my expected time.

Consider the amount I walked, I'm okay with this. Was pretty tired but in good spirits. One bit around 5.5ish miles and I felt kind of queasy, so I walked during a portion I could have ran. But kept it under control and then made a strong (downhill) finish.

Event comments:

Very impressed with race overall. My attitude was good and considering I managed only the minimum amount of training, I'm fine with the outcome. I landed inside my 3-3:30 window and wasn't totally dead afterwards. I look forward to doing this one again and improving!
