Swim
Comments: Been having lots more banging than usual at my last few swims. Was doing really well with my navigation today but got hung up behind two guys who were swimming side by side. Should have just put the hammer down and gone around them. Instead, I lost some time staying back. What would you do differently?: Go around Transition 1
Comments: Decent T1. Rocky pavement in TA a little painful but overall decent What would you do differently?: Run faster :) Bike
Comments: Felt really good on the bike. Used the Hed3 wheels today which makes climbing slightly tougher but pays dividends on the flats and downhills. Got hijacked by a random gust that took over control of the bike. Bike wouldn't turn at all and kind of scared me for a second then I regained control. Drifted off onto the edge of the road at one point on one of the hills and had a nervous moment dodging some deep grooves till I got back on the road. Felt really good thru even the tough climbs. The last climb on Midway Lake is usually really painful. Was 3/4 of the way up and in sight of the top and I was still waiting for it go get painful. Thats a good feeling. What would you do differently?: Ride even harder. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty fast t2. Even took time for a couple of sips of gatorade since I didn't drink enough on bike What would you do differently?: Drink more on bike so I didn't need it here Run
Comments: Legs felt like crap. Not doing enough bricks after hard rides Way too many walk breaks. Passed by another clyde with less than 1/2 mile to go. Nobody to blame but myself. Still think this was one of my fastest race 5k's so not terrible but I know how much better it could have been. What would you do differently?: Suck it up Post race
Warm down: Waling around, loading up car, and then going to coach soccer What limited your ability to perform faster: Me :) Event comments: Like this race, large crowd, but the course suits me. Long, hard bike and then reasonable run. Took 3 mins off last year's time. 1 min faster on swim, 1+ on bike, and :30 on run. Not too bad even though I think I could have done even better than I did. Up at 415am, peanut butter bagel and banana on drive over. Got to race site about 530. Set up ta and circulate being social with the QCTC crowd. Even had a Beaver Fever sighting today, yes Mr Howard even made an appearance!
Walking around. Why bring my routine and actually warm up?
