Bike
Comments: We waited a little over an hour before we actually started moving for real. We were getting cold, the start line was almost completly dismanteled. Noticed lots of rental bikes (Bike & Roll), breaking down (very avoidable stuff like pedals falling off, brake cables & handle bars coming loose, etc.) Course was the same family had a lot of fun but I think being at the very back of the pack made this tour very undesireable (lots of delays, accidents, being forced into short cuts & the (so annoying), sweeper bus right behind us, starting right around our only wanted stop at the ConEd Center. Saw that stupid but several times. With so many delays (especially at the Gawanas/LIE-four into one-merge, this quickly became a ride I may not want to do ever again. My family was totally burnt, Wife's legs were cramping up, sun was frying us. To top it off, two cyclists insisted on doing a loud speaker contest as we baked in the sun. We'll most likely stick to smaller, less popoular events from now on. This ended for us at the belt Pkwy rest stop prior to the Verrazano. We called Anthony (good thing he was around) to meet us at the 69th street pier, from there he took me and some of us to retrive my car that had the bike racks. Returned to pick up the rest of the crew & gear. What would you do differently?: Get there earlier or not show up at all. Post race
Event comments: This tour could be a very nice event but I think this city is not build for it. Last updated: 2008-02-12 12:00 AM

Woke at 5:00am, left the house around 5:35 (very late). Rode from Jimmy's house. Found out the trailer needed to be dismanteled completly to fit thru the subway doors & entrances. Contruction changed the train routes the moment we boarded (more delays).
Gettting to China town so late (7:40am), was the worst thing. All side strets were closed forcing us to the west side highway, down to battery park & back up thru Church street. I'm pretty sure we were probably in the last 3 blocks of the entire thing.
None, hurrying to the back of the line was the only warm up
