Run
Comments: Legs were just not ready for todays 10k. Too much marathon training. Had an ok race, but the legs were just not having any of it. Slight revolt going on with them. Lined up at the start with a few other people I know from the Tri scene in Atlanta. Gun went off, and I took off. Fist half mile or so was behind Rivi, as he cleared a path in the crowd and got us to a good position. After that, I setteled into my pace. Did the first mile in 6:28, then the rest slightly under or just over 7min mile pace. I had no ability to surge, or bound during this race. Weird feeling. Usually my legs do what I ask of them, but not today. My surges felt like I was running in a deep sand, and my bounds were impossible to even attempt. Short strides made up the bulk of this race for me. That being said. it was still an ok race. Consistant, good effort. The original plan was to run 4 immediately after the race. That plan was scrubbed due to my legs needing a recovery WAY more than they needed the additional 4 miles. What would you do differently?: This is a race as part of my marathon training program, so not sure if I would specifically do anything different this year. I certainly would like to have better rested legs at future 10k's, that are not part of higher intensity, higher volume running workouts. Other than that, maybe drink during the race. I didn't drink at all. Didn't feel I needed it. Don't think I did now either. :) Post race
Warm down: Went immediately to the corner as you turn to finish, and got to watch a bunch of friends finish the race. Other than that, no warm down. What limited your ability to perform faster: My legs.. My Legs.. My legs.. They are a hurtin! Event comments: Great race. Biggest area 10k in the springtime. Lots of top competitors run it. It's not as easy as it is marketed as, but it's got some good downhills. Organization is excellent. Glad they use Chip (bib) timing, though it would be nice if it was start and finish, and not just finish. Was great to see a bunch of people I know there. I love to race, and this was really my type of event. Well attended, and lots of people to have this kind of fun with. Last updated: 2008-02-12 12:00 AM

Up, got girls to sitters house by 6:45. Met up with Rivi and Amy, headed to the race.
Slight jog to race number pickup and then back to the Jeep. Legs didn't feel good during the warmup at all. W/U was about a half mile.
