Total Time = 1h 37m 42s
Overall Rank = 127/372
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 26/62
Pre-race routine:

Set up of transition area was good.
Event warmup:

None. Cold rain, cold lake.
Swim
  • 18m 45s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 17s / 100 yards
Comments:

Terrible race day swim yet again. Could not control breathing or heart rate at all - probably from the cold, maybe also a crowding factor. Ended up swimming backstroke/sidestroke - overall pretty pathetic. All that time in the pool...

If I could figure this out, I might actually be pretty good at this whole triathlon thing.
What would you do differently?:

Learn how to swim.
Transition 1
  • 03m 5s
Comments:

Trouble getting shirt on, b/c it was soaking. Also forgot gloves, but was ok with that. Maybe skip them in all Sprint races?

Bike start was uphill, so no jumping on.
What would you do differently?:

Wear the shirt under the wetsuit.
Bike
  • 50m 47s
  • 18 miles
  • 21.27 mile/hr
Comments:

Overall good ride, passed a ton of other riders, was only caught by some top age groupers on their fancy tri/TT bikes. Imagine what I could do with one of those...

B/c of weather dismounted well before time pad, so T2 was even longer.
What would you do differently?:

Still need to be better about fluids on the bike. Was ok, but didn't finish the bottle, and should before the run.
Transition 2
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

Downhill finish, no jumping off there. B/c of weather dismounted well before time pad, so T2 was even longer. Too slow.

Muddy into T2, managed to slop through it alright.
Run
  • 23m 25s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Slow start uphill, kept it going ok. Was pretty beat - mainly a result of the swim I think, not the bike. Would like to be faster, but was ok with this time at this stage in the season.
What would you do differently?:

Need to practice downhill running more, was oddly tough coming into the finish.
Post race
Warm down:

None, it was pouring. Did get cover up from medical tent, so that helped.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swimming.

Event comments:

Due to rain, no post race activities, canceled awards ceremony, and everyone was very crowded getting food. Not organizers' fault really, was a weather issue.
