Comments: Felt good about my first race. Believe I picked up my overall pace in miles 9 and 10. What would you do differently?: Drink Gatorade at the first couple of drink stands instead of water to give me a little more energy at miles 11 and 12. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Talked with friends and had a beer. What limited your ability to perform faster: My beer gut slowed me down I believe. Event comments: This was my first endurance race. As of 6 weeks before the race I never ran more then a mile at one time in my life and that was years ago. I was going for 11 min miles and barely missed it. Woke up at 5 am and ate breakfast. Toke another 30 min nap and then headed to race. Had a power bar and gatorade one hour before race.
Did my normal stretches.
