Swim
Comments: My dad timed my swim time - I was out of the water in 13:20. It then took me 2:30 to get to the transition area. I didn't think I was going that slow. I need to be better conditioned so that I can jog this. What would you do differently?: Practice OWS so that I can be confident I am swimming straight. I am sure I can cut at least 2 minutes off of this time. Transition 1
Comments: For my first time - I think I did well. What would you do differently?: get on the bike quicker, my mount was at a complete stop Bike
Comments: I really like the bike. This was only my 8th time riding and I have improved a lot already. I think conditioning and losing weitght will help me a lot. What would you do differently?: I just need more experience and better conditioning. Aero bars eventually. Transition 2
Comments: for my first time - I am happy I did forget my sock though!! What would you do differently?: eventually get better at never coming to a complete stop. Run
Comments: Running is tough for me. I met my goal here to beat 30 minutes. I walked up the steep hill. Also walked 2 times on the long final hill. What would you do differently?: Conditioning Post race
Warm down: walked with Dad elated at my achievement What limited your ability to perform faster: Training is tough due to a job that takes me out of state 4 days a week. I need to make training a priority no matter where I am. Event comments: This was one of the best days in my life. I set a goal to participate in my first triathlon and to finish in less than 1:30. That seemed very lofty considering my physical condition 6 months ago. I DID IT!! I loved it too. It was killer, but I loved it. Thank you to Katie Malone for guiding me to my first Triathlon. Because I was on the road every week for work, I was not able to take complete advantage of her coaching, but she led by example more than she realizes. I know with dedication I can improve a ton. I plan to keep working at this sport for years to come. Last updated: 2008-02-14 12:00 AM

***THIS WAS MY FIRST TRIATHLON!!!!!*****
My goal was to finish and break 1:30.
I have not competed in anything in 15 years. This goal was a really big deal for me. My Dad was there and it was great to see how much he cared.
======================================================================
Did not get to sleep until close to 1am. I was wired and extremely nervous about not waking up on time. Alarm at 5:30am - a time I never see unless I have to. Hot shower and good stretch.
Clif bar, banana, peanut butter, coffee, water.
30 minute drive to Clemson - got body marks, set up transition - went back to check and re-check my setup at least 10 times.
1 mile on bike to get legs going.
short jog
wetsuit on at 7:50- swam about 200 yds to warm-up.
Then had to wait close to 30 minutes for my wave to start. Nerves were insane!
