Run
Comments: Everything was ok. It was a good running day. I did like the paved trail portion; however, everyone seemed to slow down there. It was about the middle of the run, so I'm not sure why many seemed to struggle there, but it was extremely difficult to pass anyone during this portion. I was ok with it because I wasn't 'racing,' but it was very annoying and I couldn't understand it. I don't like when people run 3-4 wide on a trail like that. It leaves no options for runners who want to pass. What would you do differently?: I wouldn't have done anything differently. There weren't as many hills as I'd hoped or thought there would be, so the ones that were there I just tried to push up them as scheduled. I did do this and passed many many people on the hills. I'm also surprised at how many people slow down on the down hills. I can understand not speeding down them, but I don't understand slowing down unless the hill really killed them. Post race
Warm down: Warm-down was running to the car and hustling back again to see Alicia finish her first 5 mile run/race. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing really limited my ability to perform faster. I wasn't trying to go any faster than I did. I was running on tired legs as it was and gave my legs no rest before this. Again, I wasn't really racing it. I'm happy with the results. Event comments: I ate a hot dog afterwards. It was delicious. I haven't had one in such a long time. Last updated: 2008-02-14 12:00 AM

Got up @ 6:30ish and ate some oatmeal and drank some coffee. Picked up Alicia, went to the race, and waited for Fred, who almost missed the race because he had to go food shopping before a 9am race. he he
Originally planned on running around for 10-15 minutes to warm up and to get the extra 10-15 minutes needed to complete what was on my schedule as far as training. I approached this race as just a way to get my hilly hour run in and not a race. I knew I would push my training pace a little, though. That always happens at a race :-)
