Swim
Comments: Don't know placement in the wave yet...awful swim. I was off from knowing that I hadn't thought about how I was going to exit the pool and being placed into a faster wave than I was comfy with. THe next wave after me actually started IN MY LANE while I was on my last lap. Sheesh. What would you do differently?: Prepare ... know what my exit strategy was gonna be and RELAX. I think I will be working more on my pool endurance too, while the times would be okay if I was just working out...they should have been faster with a race. Transition 1
Comments: I should have had a better plan for transition. I hadn't scoped out the bike out and went the wrong way out of transition, lost at least a minute there. Stuff was wet from the rain, made it hard to get gloves on. I was a little scattered in my dressing approach. What would you do differently?: Scope out the transition flow better. Bike
Comments: The bike portion was my favorite, loved it, and had a blast, I think I could have pushed harder on some of the little hills and probably kept cadence higher on the one big hill too. It was over before I knew it What would you do differently?: Pushed harder on the hills Eaten something Transition 2
Comments: Not sure there was much I could improve on the dismount. I was happy with it, What would you do differently?: Start unsnapping helmet and glasses earlier so I could just dump em and get my sneakers on... I would have started spinning higher cadence in lower gear to get legs pumping for run Run
Comments: Not my favorite part of the race - I had a great first mile, 9 min and change, and then kinda tanked, and sputtered out. What would you do differently?: Figure out a sustainable pace - and make sure I had eaten something so I could accomplish the run better Post race
Warm down: None - was too thrilled to have finished to actually warm down and stretch! What limited your ability to perform faster: Plantar Fasciatis did affect the run - not eating also contributed to fizzling out. My dang nerves got in the way too. Event comments: I really enjoyed the race, want to do it again next year. I wanted a t-shirt though so I could brage to all my friends that I had done it and didn't get one! I think if I had put more mental effort into this race it could have been even more challenging...NEXT YEAR! Last updated: 2008-02-15 12:00 AM

Carbo loaded two nights prior - read an article said two days not one day...oh well. Then carbo loaded night before JUST in case. Early to bed, not restful, but did get some sleep. Cup of raisin bran and banana for breakfast, small coffee. Shower and dress.
Only warm up there was time for was a lap in the pool. And then practicing to get out - this was something I had overlooked during this entire process...at some point you do have to get out of the pools...got bruises from trying to throw myself out and whacking the knees and elbows.
