Pre-race routine:

This was a C Race so I wasn't going to stress too much. Got up at 5am, drank some coffee and mixed some Carbo Pro in with my Endurance drink to give me an extra 425 calories.
Event warmup:

Stood in line at the Porta potties like I do ever race (OYE VEY!)

Comments:

I knew better than to bundle up at the start of a race. I have never been cold during a race, only too hot. I had a small windbreaker that could be wadded up and put in a zip pouch that I ended up taking off at about mile 3.

Kept pace pretty well actually, as tough as the hills were, it was probably a wash when you count getting to run down them. The idea I guess is to be in good enough condition that the hills don't wipe you out.

Was in a dog fight the whole race with a couple of runners and was encouraged to see that I was able to loose them in the last mile. Had great strength and my last mile was my fastest.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe eat a little more the day before.
Post race
Warm down:

Ran into Coach Brett after the race (RocketMan) and he congratulated me on running a sub-two hour half.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I have been talking about this for a year now. I need to get my weight down. My feet were killing me!! Last year I was running 11 minute miles so it didn't seem so tough on my body but with improvements comes added stress. Time to get control of what I am putting in my mouth.

Event comments:

Great race! The course was really tough but they had gatorade by the time I needed it. Lots of Volunteers to help out and very well organized.

Was a little tougher than I had envisioned it being but was very enjoyable.

Performance: Good
Course: I had heard that this was a tough course and it didn't disappoint. There were some merciless hills in the first seven miles that pushed me to the limit. My trainer had just started incorperating incline work on the treadmill a month ago and it really paid off.
