Comments: Quite a difficult race but I ran MUCH faster than I expected, especially on the first 10 km. It really felt easy, actually, until the last 5 km. What would you do differently?: I am not sure. I don't think I should have paced myself differently because of the hilly terrain, which made it hard to stick to a pace. Post race
Warm down: I walked around a little bit, added a layer of clothing on top of my tights and changed into dry, warm tops. Had a piece of orange and a banana, than headed back to the car because we had to. What limited your ability to perform faster: Perhaps more mental focus on the last 5 km. Got up at 5 a.m., had a big bowl of mixed cereals with yogurt and a coffee. Left at 6:15 and got there way too early, but the views along the way were glorious. Once there, kept more layers on until 30 minutes before the race and also had 2/3 of a bagel with jam.
No real warm up, except to stay semi-warm in the cold temperature.
