Pre-race routine:

Did not sleep well. Been fighting off the cold/flu/bronchitis for the last week. Woke up at 4:30 got my kids dressed loaded up and left. Pastry and a coffee all around
Event warmup:

Just tried to keep moving. Pool swim starts seem to take forever so I jumped in the pool and kept moving.
Swim
  • 04m 25s
  • 200 yards
  • 02m 13s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim. nice to have a full lane per 25 yards makes passing people easier. Started out quick but made myself just hold the pace. After all this was a sprint right :) The time included a run to the transition area. My watch was 3:11 when I got out of the pool.

Stroke felt good and long and a bit faster than normal.
What would you do differently?:

not miss-judge the wall at 150y
Transition 1
  • 01m 5s
Comments:

Good transition. Was cold at this point. First time with Aero helmet and had to give me a second to smap it on. Was told by a race person that I had to wear my run number so I had to grab that also.
What would you do differently?:

nothing felt it went well

Bike
  • 27m 8s
  • 10.5 miles
  • 23.22 mile/hr
Comments:

Tried to hammer out the bike. They had to shorten the run to 2.4 miles due to some muddy contitions so I figured I would do my best to have a hard solid bike time. Passed tons of people... never passed on the bike.

Played a bit with another YOUNG biker.... man that kid can push.

I felt good the whole way but with my chest congestion i was having a bit of trouble gettng enough air.... and I had a couple coughing fits.
What would you do differently?:

Not be sick. Drink a bit more water. Other than that I felt it was a great ride
Transition 2
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

Rode in with feet on top of shoes, jumped off the bike and dismount went great. Ran to the rack bent down to put on shoes and I had no left calf. It was one solid cramp. I slammed my feet in my shoes and took off hoping to run it out and get some water in me.
Run
  • 17m 8s
  • 2.3 miles
  • 07m 27s  min/mile
Comments:

Man I thought i had a decent run but I am still 24th what the hell. Oh well. The cramp that burst my calf in t2 went away quickly and I was running free with just a nagging pain in the calf. No water during the run. I passed 2 people and was passed by two others. They were just flying God i need to learn to run!
What would you do differently?:

run faster, drink more on the bike so my let wont hurt
Post race
Warm down:

Tried not to vomit. Ate some oranges and waited for awards.

Event comments:

get the awards done so that people can go home or out to eat.. way too drawn out 2.5 hours after finishing i finally get my award and go home. Lots of givaways by way of just random numbers... but that got old quickly.
