Swim
Comments: Not my best swim...At all. I should have been about 5 min faster, I think. I opted not to wear the wetsuit b/c the water was pretty perfect, and I'm just not comfy in it yet and the day before I was feeing awkward and a tad bit warm on an easy 20 min swim...but in hindsight, I wonder if I should have. OR maybe I just had a bad swim? Sighting wasn't great, drafting was non-existent. I swam pretty relaxed and enjoyed it, but wonder why I didn't go faster. I got out feeling warmed up and not out of breath though. What would you do differently?: Maybe wear the wetsuit...better get some practice in it. Transition 1
Comments: I sucked. I need to practice transitions again...I was a bit discombobulated all weekend, and this spilled over into transition! I fumbled with my garmin, messing with the settings and stuff...should have had that all set in the morning before the race! I had a hard time clipping in as well. I gotta work on this. I need to be more organized. What would you do differently?: GO faster. Plan and practice. Bike
Comments: I had someone to leap frog with for much of the race, which made me really want to race. I did really well on the turns and corners and just felt spot on on the bike. I felt good. I was breathing hard and working hard, but not so much that I couldn't keep it up. Kept it in slight check thinking about the run, but still pushed it. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I don't ride this fast, so I am quite pleased with my lil self. Transition 2
Comments: Again, I am slow. I also had to pee, so after thinking about it, and getting ready to take off to run, I decided to squat down and pee in transition...should have peed while getting ready for the run. What would you do differently?: Again, organization and practice! Run
Comments: Started out breathing fairly shallow and it didn't change much! I pushed it on the run past my comfort level, but not to where I was miserable like a 5k pace. It was do able and I *may* have been able to go another mile, but wouldn't really want to at that point. I was breathing heavy off the bike and never really caught it. Maybe that is just what racing, rather than pacing feels like. About mile 4 I saw a woman I race locally coming out maybe .5 behind me...she is a faster runner than me but it's what kept me going hard. I was trying hard to NOT let her pass me...and she didn't :) What would you do differently?: Maybe should have my inhaler handy...or maybe just get used to what it feels like to push into a level that is somewhat uncomfortable, but do-able? Happy with the run. Predicted 51 min and went under that. Post race

Met my coach at 6am at transition to get some infinit (oops...I am not prepared!)..then set up pretty quick and returned to the hotel for a leisurely breakfast of coffee, cheerios and boost on the porch with my friend watching everyone walk to the swim. Mistakenly poured the half and half on my cereal :o Tried to drain it and then use the skim milk!! This was pre-coffee!!
Got dressed and headed for the swim start (around .8 mile away) around 8am, to be there and ready for the 8:45 predicted wave start. Met a nice woman in my AG on the way and chatted...her last name was OTT! Ha. Ran into Janice (so happy to see her!!!) and Sue and Sue's friend. Took a GU, drank some water and saw Sharon, my mother for the weekend ;) Stood in line. I was sans wetsuit, so no prep there.
The .8 mile walk to the beach.
