Pre-race routine:

I had made a pasta dinner the night beofre and when testing the pasta the hot water hit my lip and burned me, leaving a big white blister on my bottom lip . Ouch!
Anyway, woke up at 4 am after a terrible night sleep..was so afraid I was going to over sleep. I got myself ready and packed my gear bag for after ther race add set off to meet my ride. I was there early, so I ate a clif bar and hung out.
I drove down with 2 guys from my Rotary Club. Left them and met up with some other friends and unfortunatly, did not use the porta potty. Wish I did!

Event warmup:

Walked a bit and then went to find a palce to hang out unitl it started

Comments:

I started off storng adn was trying to maintain a 9:30 mm, but after about 3 miles, i slowed down to 10 min mile.s I was dying ot go to the bathromo at mile 1, but they only had 2 porta potties at each wather station which were I think about 2 miles apart from each other. So, skipped the firt few miles and finally gave in at mile 4. Wish I hadn't since iy took 5 minutes to wait in line. . But i took about 2 secs to pee and littlerly rano out of the porta potty back on track.
miles 4-7 were strong and hten about mile 7, my left hip flexor was throbbing. I stretched a bit and walked for a few minutes. I had really wanted to run the whole thing, but knew going in that my hip flexor was going to give me trouble. I was fine for the next 3 miles and we entered Birch park at mile 9. I had to walk a few times in there and stretch a bit..there were a ton of people stopping to stretch in the park. I pciked it up at at about mile 10 took a GU. Mile 11 finally took us out of the park and by hten I was convinced if I could keep running that I would finish in under 2:30. I did a bunch of math in my head and figured if I tried and ran under 20 mm for the last fewm, the I would beat my planned time. I picked it up and did well for mile 11-11.75 and kept thinking "under 2 miles left" the last mile semed forever, but I really tried to pick it up. however, it did not work out that way. I had to walk a bit, my leg, hipflexor and arches were dying. I really was just thinking how I wanted to run through the chute. So, I picked it up but was runngi an 11+ mm. saw my mom, who didn't realize she shuold be near the finish line rahter than at a random spot on the coursse (she didn't see me finish) and then I saw it, the finish line! I ran as fast as I could towards the end and with a big smile and everone cheering, ran through the finish line. I felt so exausted nad excited all at the same time. It was such a rush!@ So happy I did it and I definatly will do another!
What would you do differently?:

Stretch more ahead of time adn train a bit more
Post race
Warm down:

I stretched, grabbed my gear bag, which was a cluster f**k and also ran into an old friend..was strange sicne I haven't spoken to or seen her in over a year..

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My body :)

Event comments:
