Swim
Comments: It took me a while to fight through the slower swimmers at the start but after that the swim went fine. The sun was right in your face on the way back though, so it was tough to find the bouys. What would you do differently?: move closer to the front at the start Transition 1
Comments: had some problems with the wet suit. Bike
Comments: The bike went just fine. The hill about 5 miles in was tough but after that the only thing to really deal with is the non stop bumps. It's a really rough course. What would you do differently?: nothing. Transition 2
Run
Comments: This was my first time breaking 8min in any race. The cool weather definitely helped! I wish I could race in 60-70 degree weather all the time... What would you do differently?: nothing. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some water, chatted with my family and waited for my wife and friends to come in. Overall, I am very happy with how the race went. This race was the first tri I ever did last year so I was excited to see how much I improved with 1 year of training under my belt. Here are the time comparisons between 2007 and 2008: 2007 Swim: 16:19, 1:52/100 2008 Swim: 15:27, 1:46/100 2007 bike:55:53, 18.3 mph 2008 bike: 46:44, 21.8 mph 2007 run: 37:16, 9:49/mile 2008 run: 30:59, 7:57/mile. 2007 total time: 1:53:33 (23/26 in AG) 2008 total time: 1:36:17 (10/26 in AG) What limited your ability to perform faster: I probably could have pushed the swim a bit harder but my main goal was to feel good coming out of the water. Event comments: A nice small race. The bike route is really rough but of course there isn't much the RD can do about that. Last updated: 2008-02-20 12:00 AM
