Swim
Comments: i was in the 14th wave and we ended up starting 20min late... not that big of a deal but would rather have started asap so that way it was not so hot on the course. What would you do differently?: had 2 problems sighting and ended up going way left and then pretty far right. ... there were not that many people out on kayeks helping people stay off track. Transition 1
Comments: we had about a 300 meeter run from the swim exit to our bikes... and with 2400 slots there where a lot of bikes. I found mine and striped suit off.. it was in a grass area and i got grass all over my socks. nutrition Power bar What would you do differently?: learn to not use socks Bike
Comments: 2:44:22 should have been my real bike time.... but... at mile 4 i had a flat tire. as i was starting to change it a mavic guy came up to me and started to change the tire for me... i was excited that everything was going to be ready to rock.... with in 3 min of riding again my tire exploded. so now I'm mother f'in the course. so u used my 2nd tube and both of my Co2's and jumped back on and hammered down. untill i got to mile 20... i was on some bumpy road and my spacer on my aero bars thought that it would be a good idea to fall out. so i had to stop go find it and then wait for some one to come up with a allen wrench. THANK YOU to #1766. he stopped and had one i told him that i would catch up to him. he got back to riding and i put my aero bar back in-place... but not in the right place. so once i caught up to him i realized that this would not work so i stopped and fixed it again. It was too far off to the right and not tight. so fixed it and THEN really hammered down. i think there was one guy that passed me but i think he probably had some of the same problems that i had or something like that. If my time would have represented my real time biking i would have been really happy to have average 20.4 or 56 miles. so i got to the big hill at the end of the course and went on up. it was about average hill for kansas nutrition 2 power bars 3 roctaine gu's 1.5 water and 3 gatoraid water bottles. What would you do differently?: NOT have mechanical problems Transition 2
Comments: I even had time to stop and pee,,, i cleaned my feet off cause there was a lot of grass and switched socks... sliped shoes on and took off. Nutrition: powerbar What would you do differently?: learn not to use socks. Run
Comments: with in about 12 min i felt my sock starting to slide down in to my shoe. but i thought that if i stop then i may not be able to keep pace up. so i figured that since this is my last race of the year and i already had 24 min of hold ups that this would just have to suffice. I really liked all of the people out on the run that were cheering and yelling for you. Nutrition: 1 roctaine, 1 power bar, water and Gatorade at every aid station. sponges and wet towels as well What would you do differently?: i think i did this run as well as i have done any given the distance... so nothing... except for the no sock thing.... ill work on that one for next year. Post race
Warm down: Walk over to the photo booth and get pic taken and get some food in me and some beers... I felt like crap the rest of the day and could hardley eat at 8:30 pm What limited your ability to perform faster: bike screw ups Event comments: i wanted to stick around for the awards ceremonies but i only saw the pros get there stuff... it was too hot and there was no where to sit down at out there. but on the dusty dead grass ground. and if i laid down i dont know if i would have gotten up for a while. NEXT year im going to make sure that i have a support group to go to the races with me. overall im prety excited with how i did but im just frustrated that these mess ups happen at my A race that i trained so hard for through out the whole year. If i had not had my screw ups i would have gotten 3rd place overall for Clydesdales and would have been in 307th /1821 finishers and and would have been 42/170 Last updated: 2008-02-21 12:00 AM
